The new trend for silicone lures requires strong rod strikes, which cause the silicone to dart unpredictably in all directions in the water, mimicking an injured or panicked fish.

The new heads from Kamatsu with the special fastening hook are an essential tool to keep the silicone in place, allowing strikes to result in a proper hook set.

  • Construction: Carbon hook for increased strength and resistance to corrosion from saltwater.
  • Shape: Round shape that allows for use with multiple retrieves.
  • Application: Ideal for steady retrieves, slow or fast, even against strong currents.

The Kamatsu Extra Jig is a great choice for pairing with many silicone lures regardless of brand.

Size

There are 2 main categories for hook size:

Small hooks: They have numbers such as #1, #2, #4, #6, #8, etc. The larger the number, the smaller the hook. For example, a #10 hook is much smaller than a #2.

Large hooks (with "aught" - /0): These have numbers such as 1/0, 2/0, 3/0, 4/0, etc. The larger the number before the "/0", the larger the hook. For example, a 5/0 hook is larger than a 1/0.
