This happens because while it is unlocked, it very easily clicks downwards and naturally, as someone holds it, the digits change, resulting in a new combination being set! Also, even more seriously, if you have it in the position to take a new combination and you intentionally play with the digits very quickly – with all four, that is, you change them all quickly – then it remains locked in the open position! You can't set another combination and the bar won't go up at all. In other words, it becomes useless.
