Coral Colors supplements are designed so that the ratio of elements in each supplement is the same as that found in the skeleton and soft tissues of corals. Research has identified a constant ratio between each Coral Color and the overall calcium uptake, which is proportional to coral growth and metabolic activity. This provides a simple and safe method, based on measured calcium uptake, for dosing all color supplements.

Coral Colors A, B & C contain the main element (Iodine, Potassium, and Iron) which can be accurately measured with Red Sea's unique Coral Colors Pro test kits. For more advanced LPS and SPS aquariums, Coral Colors A, B & C can be precisely dosed according to the overall demand of the coral system for these elements.

• Coral Color A: A complex of halogens (Iodine, Bromine, and Fluorine). The halogens act as both antioxidants and oxidizing agents within the soft tissues and mucous layer of corals, reducing the chance of coral discoloration.

In active coral systems, these elements are rapidly depleted due to their high oxidative abilities and reactivity with organic materials. Iodine and bromine are associated with the pink chromo-protein (pocciloporin).
