Description

The Tropica substrate acts as a long-term food source for plants, ensuring wonderful and healthy growth. It is a natural concentrate of clay and sphagnum, which is placed at the bottom of the gravel layer during aquarium setup. The clay and sphagnum slowly release nutrients to the plant roots and bind nutrients in the bottom layer of the water, reducing the risk of unwanted algae growth.

Use of Tropica plant substrate:

  • The substrate is placed in a 1 cm thick layer at the bottom of the aquarium during installation.
  • Then a layer of gravel at least 3-4 cm thick is placed on top.
  • Plants are planted in the gravel and quickly form new roots in the substrate.
  • During planting, it is advisable to avoid mixing the substrate with water.
  • Once plants are removed from the aquarium, they should be cut at their base to avoid mixing the substrate with water.

The list below provides the recommended amounts of Tropica plant substrate for some typical aquarium sizes:

  • 25 liters aquarium = approximately 0.9 liters of substrate
  • 50 liters aquarium = approximately 1.2 liters of substrate
  • 65 liters aquarium = approximately 1.8 liters of substrate
  • 85 liters aquarium = approximately 2.45 liters of substrate
  • 125 liters aquarium = approximately 3.2 liters of substrate
  • 180 liters aquarium = approximately 4.0 liters of substrate
  • 250 liters aquarium = approximately 5.0 liters of substrate
