The NE5532, NE5532A, SA5532, and SA5532A devices are high-performance operational amplifiers that combine excellent DC and AC characteristics. They feature very low noise, high output capability, high gain bandwidth, maximum output range, low distortion, high slew rate, input protection diodes, and output short-circuit protection. These operational amplifiers are internally compensated for unity-gain operation. They have specified maximum limits for the equivalent input noise capability.

    The NE5532P is a dual operational amplifier commonly used in high-quality audio electronic devices such as sound cards and CD players. I have a sound card with this chip, with an SNR of 117db and distortion of 0.0006%. Some people replace the sound amplification chip of their computer motherboard or television with the NE5532. I used it in a DIY cmoy headphone amplifier for my mobile phone. It had noise with low impedance headphones (16ohm), but much less noise with 32ohm headphones, possibly because I don't have a good power supply. Its sound is very detailed in the mid frequencies, and you can hear sounds in the music that you hadn't noticed before. There are better amplifiers than the NE5532, but they are very difficult to find in Greece at a reasonable price.
