Some motorcycles are equipped with a speed limiter, mainly those that come from Germany. The speed limit is usually 80 km/h and is achieved through the ignition unit. There is a speed sensor connected to the ignition unit, which stops the ignition when the measured speed exceeds 80 km/h. Removing the speed sensor will not disable the speed limiter, as without a speed signal, the ignition unit limits the engine speed.
