Renew is ideal for use in systems where the potential release of phosphates from activated carbon creates a problem. It is less aggressive than carbon, making it useful in reef and planted aquariums. Additionally, it is useful in low pH aquariums, where the increase in pH due to carbon can cause issues. Renew removes organics and particles, and helps control ammonia, nitrates, and phosphates.
