The connection via ethernet cable offers a speed of 100Mbps which is sufficient to cover all needs. For example, a high-definition 4K movie requires about 25Mbps. Greater speed only makes sense in professional environments and in repeaters that support corresponding high WLAN speeds.

Single Band (2.4GHz)

They transmit on a single frequency and offer lower speed compared to dual (2 frequencies) and tri-band (3 frequencies). The 2.4GHz frequency is the most common, and as it has a large range, it is usually congested by neighboring Wi-Fi signals, making communication between devices even more difficult. For managing multiple devices, a dual-band device can handle it more effectively.

Theoretical maximum speed that the repeater can offer cumulatively to connected devices. The maximum speed it can offer to a single device may be lower.

The repeater can provide up to 300Mbps in total to the devices connected to it. In practice, the actual speed that such a Wi-Fi 4 generation repeater can offer to a device is closer to 50Mbps. For example, a high-resolution 4K movie requires about 25Mbps. The speed that each connected device will have depends on the distance, obstacles, how many other devices are connected, how many other networks exist in the same area, etc.

The Wi-Fi generation is a user-friendly separation that indicates the capabilities of Wi-Fi devices (maximum wireless connection speed, number of devices that can connect, frequencies they can transmit on).

Wi‑Fi 4

The older generation of Wi-Fi is significantly slower than Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6.

It is recommended for use with few devices and for applications that do not require high speeds.

For most users, it would be preferable to choose a Wi-Fi 5 or 6 device according to their needs.

Each subsequent generation is compatible with devices that support some of the previous ones.

The networking standards describe the frequencies and maximum speeds supported by the device. This information is also reflected in the more user-friendly Wi-Fi generations, such as Wi-Fi 5 (IEEE 802.11ac) or Wi-Fi 6 (IEEE 802.11ax).

802.11 b/g/n

The older Wi-Fi standard, known as Wi-Fi 4, is significantly slower than Wi-Fi 5 (IEEE 802.11ac) and Wi-Fi 6 (IEEE 802.11ax).

It is recommended for use with few devices and for applications that do not require high speeds. For most users, it would be preferable to choose a Wi-Fi 5 or 6 device depending on their needs.

What is Mesh WiFi?

Mesh technology eliminates the “dead” spots in the home by creating a single network with the same name (SSID) and password everywhere.

Why is it important?
