The plant originates from India and Iran. Its name comes from the Greek word "King," as according to legend, it sprouted at the point where Emperor Constantine and his mother, Saint Helena, discovered the Holy Cross. The Romans considered it a sign of love and a talisman. The Egyptians used it, along with other herbs, in embalming, and the Gauls in purification rituals, together with spring water.
Thanks to its composition, basil is one of the most important herbs. It improves stomach function, reduces intestinal gas, stimulates appetite, and relieves muscle and intestinal cramps. It is therefore used for relief from abdominal pain, in gastritis, for digestive issues, and for hemorrhoids caused by constipation.
The tea made from basil leaves is ideal for colds, nasal congestion, and cough, while it is also particularly digestible, diuretic, and tonic, soothing the intestine and nervous migraines.
How to use: Add one teaspoon of dried herb to a cup of boiling water, cover it for 10 minutes, strain, and drink three times a day.
Herbs are medicines and should be treated as such. It is always recommended to consult your doctor before taking them.
