Mallow (Malva sylvestris) is a plant native to Western Europe, North America, and Asia. In modern herbal medicine, Mallow is used in 2 ways:
- Mallow tea is considered effective for stomach disorders accompanied by constipation. It has a mild laxative effect, detoxifies, and soothes the gastrointestinal system.
- Mallow is used externally as a poultice or lotion for the treatment of skin inflammations, such as pimples, "riverbank" growths, rashes, and calluses.
Mallow can be made into a tea by boiling for 10-15 minutes in water (1 g of herb per 100ml of water). It is recommended to consume up to 3 cups of Mallow a day (morning, noon, evening before meals), ideally with honey in cases of constipation.
Herbs are and should be treated as medicines. It is advisable to consult a doctor before taking them.
