General information about tracheostomy:

A tracheostomy tube is a special tube that is placed after the opening of the trachea (tracheostomy), to ventilate the patient, bypassing the upper respiratory tract. The reasons that may require it vary. A tracheostomy can be performed urgently in any location or scheduled in the operating room.
