The speed index is the maximum speed for a tire when it has the correct pressure and is used under load. The speed index is represented by a letter at the end of the sidewall markings, after the load index number. A tire with a speed index of V, for example, has a maximum speed of 240 km/h.

The M+S stands for the English words mud and snow and indicates that the tire's tread pattern and compound have been specifically designed to provide superior handling and braking capabilities in mud and snow compared to summer tires. The M+S symbol is displayed on both all-season tires and winter tires.

3PMSF

The three-peak mountain snow flake (or 3PMSF for short) indicates that the tire has passed a minimum snow performance requirement test according to EU Regulation 661/2009. This symbol is only displayed on winter tires.
