It is ideal for landscape, travel, and architectural applications, with a constant maximum aperture of f/4 that maintains consistent performance throughout the zoom range.

The advanced optical design includes:

  • A trio of aspherical elements
  • One ED aspherical element
  • Three ED elements

These contribute to controlling spherical and chromatic aberrations, offering improved sharpness and color accuracy. Focusing is achieved through an internal mechanism with a linear AF motor for fast and quiet operation.

The front fluorine coating prevents moisture, while the lens features a dust, freeze, and weather-resistant construction for use in challenging conditions. There is also a manual aperture ring for intuitive adjustment of exposure settings.
