Moisturizes the burned surface, minimizes and limits the burn. Creates a protective barrier and prevents secondary infections. Reduces serum secretion from the burn as the hydrocolloid gel has a higher molecular weight than the hemic serum. Suppresses the burn blister due to the difference in osmotic pressure. Easily removed with saline solution.
