Pumice 8-16mm

Pumice is mined on the island of Gyali and is a chemically inert porous volcanic mineral, created by an underwater volcanic eruption in the wider area of Nisyros 10,000 years ago.

The porosity of the material is due to the gaps caused by steam escaping during the cooling of the lava.

It is a natural soil conditioner that helps in soil aeration and better water drainage.

Pumice improves the physical properties of the soil by making it fluffier, ensuring good aeration for root development, retaining moisture, while also helping to remove excess water during watering.
