  • Unfortunately, although it bears the Shimano name, which until now was synonymous with reliability, this particular model is a very cheap build which, although it looks quality at first glance, is not.

In the first month of use, the top rings broke on both rods I had bought (I always use a pair of rods to get used to casting), which of course were not covered by the warranty and I paid another 35 euros for them again. One of the new ceramic guides broke again, resulting in me replacing both rods with other branded ones that I paid another 16 euros each for!

At about six months of use, on one of the two, the tip section broke during a simple cast with a 100g lead, at the height of the second guide, without the rod hitting anything or the line having wrapped around it.

In the end, the rods turned out to be a very cheap Shimano build in China, with second-grade materials both in the guide ceramics and in the carbon. It should be noted that I have been surf casting for over 20 years, I was a fan of the company and I take very good care of my equipment, but unfortunately, although many models have passed through my hands, this was the end for me.

At 81 euros, there is no similar rod on the market. Tremendous quality Shimano combined with the Shimano Beastmaster 10000 reel, you have a very good surfcasting set that costs less than 200 euros
