Hayman drums were introduced in the late 1960s by an English manufacturer. The idea was to create a series of drums that could compete with the major American companies of the time. The company started with the name George Hayman on the branding and later shortened it to just Hayman in the following years.

The secret to the sound of Hayman drums was in their inner layer. It was called Vibrasonic, but in reality, it was a thick, sprayed layer based on common white polyurethane. Its function was to reinforce the drum surface, allowing the sound to bounce internally and give more "crack."
