Amaro Montenegro was created in 1885 by Stanislao Cobianchi. It has been described as the "distillate of the senses" due to its secret recipe of distillation from 50 different herbs. It has a bittersweet taste with aromas of cherry, orange, and spices.

Sweet at first and slightly bitter afterwards, with a herbal aftertaste. It can be enjoyed neat or on the rocks, as an ingredient in various cocktails, with soft drinks and juices.

Reviews by our members

  • I tried the liqueur for the first time when it was offered to us after a meal in Budva, in a low glass, with two or three large ice cubes and a slice of orange. The taste, the sensation, and the enjoyment thrilled us. Reading about it, I discovered its history. It is an Italian product, originating from Bologna, which was named in honor of Elena of Montenegro, who married an Italian king. Returning to Greece, I looked for it and we enjoyed it at home in the same way or by adding a few drops of fresh orange, either as an aperitif or after a meal. I associate it with a feeling of calm and tranquility. It is aromatic, refreshing with the ice in the glass, and pleasant in taste.

  • Try it with ice and a little freshly squeezed orange juice and rub an orange peel around the rim of the glass. Perfect!

The most delicious amaro I have ever tasted!!
It has an exceptional, sweet-bitter taste. Ideal for cocktails or to drink it straight with ice. It is the best drink to pleasantly finish your dinner.

Unbelievable with tonic or with Three Cents Ginger Beer!!! In Italy, they drink it as a digestif after a meal because it has 40 herbs and helps with digestion! And the bottle is so beautiful - this is truly a nice gift for a good friend and at a good price!
