The Sonoff Zigbee Bridge Ultra is a Zigbee 3.0 gateway compatible with eWeLink that can integrate Sonoff Zigbee devices into an eWeLink or Matter ecosystem. The gateway is equipped with an EFR32MG21 chip, a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor, 1 GB DDR4 RAM, and 8 GB eMMC storage. A high-capacity Zigbee bridge, it ensures reliable automation and extended communication range.

What is Zigbee?

Most Sonoff products use Wi-Fi and RF as communication methods, which allow for more affordable products compared to other smart home technologies, but they are not specific IoT standards. In contrast, Zigbee is specifically designed as an ideal communication solution for low-power devices, where there is not a large volume of data transfer, but where the lowest possible latency is important.
Zigbee is a good choice for battery-powered sensors or remote controls, for example, where Zigbee offers multiple operating times compared to WiFi. Zigbee sensors cannot be used on their own; they need a Zigbee gateway to connect them to your home/office network. Examples are the Sonoff Zigbee Bridge and the Sonoff Zigbee Bridge Pro. The Zigbee Bridge Ultra is a Matter-compatible gateway supported by Zigbee 3.0 and uses the same eWeLink app as other Sonoff products, allowing Zigbee devices connected to the Zigbee bridge to connect to each other and even to other devices, such as Wi-Fi devices in an automation system.

I have connected only Sonoff devices to the bridge, they work perfectly. In a 100 sqm house (with balconies 140 sqm) there is full coverage even for the external thermometers with the bridge located in the middle of the house in a drywall storage room. Automatic watering systems were also added at both ends of the house on the balconies and they work perfectly as well.

I have the simple sonoff bridge, the pro, and for the past 3 days, the Ultra as well.
I had the simple Bridge installed. Everything was fine.
I decided to get the Ultra because of its range, speed, and built-in speaker.
It may have a faster processor, the Ultra may have memory.
What matters is the range it has for Zigbee sensors and their compatibility. The company says it covers 200 meters in open space. Sure.
At 7 meters with two walls, it doesn't work.
I've used all three devices in the same spot with the same wifi and the sensors in the same place.
By far, the best in signal and compatibility is the simple sonoff Bridge. I had no problems. The difference with the pro and the Ultra is that they have a speaker and can notify you of events from there. Theoretically, it says it has a stronger signal. Supposedly. The pro supports up to 15 sensors, not 128 as they say. Forget what they say about sub and nonsense. I have 23. While the simple one supports 32. It also has worse signal. It also freezes. I talked to them. They don't know either.
With the Ultra, I've had to change the positions of sensors and bring them closer, and at some point, it loses some of them. Even though it has a setting inside to increase the signal. It does nothing. As strange as it may sound, it works better with the old series of sensors. I even updated it.
As for the matter it claims to have, it shows me a list of which sensors can be added. I click on them, it doesn't accept them????
Desperate with the Ultra and the pro. The simple one is also the best.
I didn't have these problems.
I can't understand why they have the pro since it's worse than the simple one. And they call it pro. Maybe you need to have both.

21/6/25 I had quite a few issues with the sonoff sensors. The batteries ran out quickly, they desynchronized every 3 to 4 days. During a power outage, I had to set everything up from scratch. I got some Chinese ones to try at a lower price. Much better. No desynchronization issues, the battery lasts 3, 4 months. During a power outage or battery change, they don't lose settings. They are also smaller.
I put these sensors in a pro I have as well. And there, they work much better than the sonoff ones.
I noticed that the sonoff sensors have issues if they are used very often. They are lazy.
The simple sonoff bridge must have been discontinued.
