Gymnocalycium saglionis (F.Cels) Britton & Rose
Family: Cactaceae
Pot diameter: 8.5 cm
Height: 10-12 cm
A solitary cactus with a spherical and slightly cylindrical shape, which over time tends to form clusters at the base. It has a beautiful bright green body and tubercles with hard and curved yellowish-brown spines. From late spring to summer, it blooms with many pink-white funnel-shaped flowers that adorn the top of the plant (often several times a year).
Care:
- It requires plenty of light throughout the year, but avoid direct sunlight, especially during the hottest hours of the day.
- It is preferable to keep it in mild temperatures and never below 7 °C, so it is recommended to protect it during the winter season.
- Watering should be moderate, only when the soil is completely dry. It is sufficient to water once a week in spring and summer, reduce watering to once every two months in autumn, and completely suspend watering in winter.
- The best soil is one that drains well, such as a mixture of peat and perlite, so that water does not remain.
- Frequent fertilization is not necessary, just dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
