Description

For some time now, the radical space seems to be abandoning politics and only engaging in purely defensive actions and strategies. The "ultimate goal" seems to be merely the defense of the old achievements of social democracy or the delineation of temporary "liberated zones" that do not question the current system in any way.

Libertarians now need to create a substantive new politics, filling the gap created by the collapse of old ideological certainties. "Another world is possible," but only if we are ready to enter the public arena, set the agenda, and promote a bold political vision.

This book seeks to illuminate the political legacy of the great libertarian thinker Murray Bookchin through the proposal of communalism and its differentiation from other radical ideologies.

Communalism is rooted in the ancient struggle between the independence of cities and the expansionist ambitions of the state: on one hand, citizens fought for the extension of the virtues of the city and municipal freedoms, and on the other, nobles, kings, and emperors made every effort to suppress local autonomy and confederation.

Today, the effort to reshape the Municipalities at the expense of the centralized State, as well as the ideal of a "Commune of Communes," remains the underlying threat to modern nation-states.
