This auto-darkening filter (ADF) includes a liquid crystal display, electronic components, solar panels/batteries, sensors, and UV/IR filter. This filter automatically darkens when the electric arc starts.
The liquid crystals enable the automatic shading of the filter, with their arrangement being controlled by electrical signals. Depending on the arrangement, the crystals react differently to light intensity. The UV/IR filter provides permanent protection, whether the auto-darkening filter is in a light or dark state.
The filter sensors detect the start of the electric arc and send a signal to the electronic system, which activates the liquid crystal display. The front protective lenses protect the ADF filter from the byproducts of welding, while the rear lenses protect the ADF filter from dust and other impurities.
Both types of protective lenses are consumable materials and can be replaced as needed.
