The Rotala Blood Red is a form of Rotala Rotundifolia that is native to southeastern China. The leaves are elongated, similar to those of Rotala H’ra. The Rotala Blood Red is a more demanding type of Rotala and should be grown under high light and with the addition of CO2. When grown under these ideal conditions, the leaves will take on an impressive red color. The addition of iron can help bring out the red hues in the plants.
