Unfortunately, the shade of brown was not the expected one. Also, the flip-flops were sent without protective packaging, resulting in abrasions, probably from some sharp object that pierced the courier's plastic bag during transport. Rubbing the surface with a damp cloth did remove these abrasions from the flip-flops, but it left light-colored stains in their place, which I hope will fade with daily use as the surface gradually wears off.
