The modern Persephone, in The Tear of Persephone, carries on her shoulders the essence of the ancient myth and remembers the abduction of the goddess as she gathered flowers in the salty meadow, along with the Oceanid nymphs.
As a myrrh-clad priestess of light, she hymns nature, worships the bounteous earth and the magnificent sea, glorifies the immaculate innocence and the myriad-voiced silence, and praises the primordial beauty and the robust memory.
At times, she dons the cloak of fire and wails for the sacred nothingness and the world of decay, mourning for the burnt carcasses, the ecological disaster, the global wound, and the empty soul of the momentary human, who is immersed in the ephemeral.
Three poetic figures, Persephone, Odysseus Asteris, and Antigone, move circularly before the eyes of the reader and, engaged in conversation, compose the bitter tear of the world and of nature.
Persephone mourns the burnt earth, Antigone the burnt flesh, and Odysseus Asteris the burnt memory.
Persephone denounces the wheel of black tyranny, Antigone the woes of History, and Odysseus Asteris the pursuit of oblivion.
Persephone hymns the multi-crowned mother earth, Antigone the mother of the missing, and Odysseus Asteris the mother of innocence, and in the end, they mutually encompass one another.
In three scales of focus, the work lyrically addresses a dialectic of existence in a spiral structure of evolution.
