The ISL95522 is an extremely versatile battery charger adjustable to operate either as a Hybrid Power Boost (HPB) charger or as a Narrow VDC (NVDC) charger, supporting 2-, 3-, or 4-cell batteries.
Both settings allow the battery to work with the adapter to provide charging to the system when the demand exceeds the adapter's capacity, referred to as the system Turbo mode.
The HPB charger setting reverses energy from the battery to the system in order to assist the adapter in providing power to the system during Turbo mode.
The NVDC charger setting quickly activates the BGATE, allowing the battery to support the adapter in supplying power to the system in Turbo mode.
The ISL95522 uses N-channel MOSFETs (NFETs) for all switches to achieve the best performance and lowest BOM cost.
