The cylindrical copper terminals of the DIN series (galvanized) comply with standard DIN 46235 and are designed for cable concealment. They allow for the termination of copper wire conductors and are used where there is a need to connect the wire to, for example, a distribution board, busbar, or other device using a screw terminal. The use of DIN terminals increases the safety and durability of such connections. Unlike soldered connections, the use of terminals reduces the risk of overheating of conductors and insulation.
All cylindrical copper terminals undergo an additional hardening and burning process at 700°C. This process removes all impurities from the material from which the terminal is made. Hardened terminals, unlike non-hardened ones, are less prone to cracks and micro-cracks during concealment, thus having better performance parameters. For the DIN 46235 standard, the dimensional tolerance for size "d1" for cross-sections 10-150 mm² is +/- 0.3 mm, for cross-sections 185-400 mm² +/- 0.4 mm, for sizes 500-625 mm² +/- 0.5 mm, the tolerance for dimension "b" for cross-sections 10-70 mm² is +/- 1 mm, for cross-sections between 95 and 625 mm² is +/- 2 mm, and for the whole range of cross-sections, the dimensional tolerance for size "l1" is +2 mm, for dimension "c" -3 mm. The effectiveness of concealment (securing the terminal to the wire) depends on the use of the appropriate tool and a die suitable for the cross-section.
