It is designed not to discolor from chemical cleaners, but care is required if exposed to very high temperatures, as it may cause some color alteration. Its installation is inset, meaning it sits within the countertop with its edge protruding. This method of installation is the most common for kitchen sinks, as the countertop itself supports its weight. Sealing is achieved with silicone applied around the hole beneath the edge. Despite the advantages, the sink's edge may complicate cleaning and could limit the ability to easily remove water that falls onto the countertop.
