It is installed as an undermount, meaning the sink is inserted into the countertop with its rim protruding. This installation method is the most popular, as the weight of the sink is supported by the countertop itself, with some support points for stability. Sealing is done with insulating material such as silicone, placed around the hole beneath the rim. One point to consider is that the rim can make cleaning more difficult and may hinder water drainage from the countertop into the bowl.
