Description

Description

ANTIRUST EPOXY is a two-component epoxy anti-corrosion primer for new or previously painted iron surfaces, worn galvanizing, and other interior and exterior metallic surfaces. Its strong anti-corrosion primers protect the metal from corrosion and rust in coastal or underwater environments. It is ideal for maritime use and for superstructures. It provides a smooth surface for high-quality finishes. It is an ideal primer for the final polyurethane paints POLYGLOSS, ANTISKID as well as the TROPIKAL antifouling series.

Preparation

The basic prerequisite for achieving good results is thorough preparation. Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from defective or poorly adhering materials, dust, oils, and salts.

New metal surfaces:
Degrease the surface using THINNER 125 solvent. Prime with ANTIRUST EPOXY, 2 coats

Painted metal surfaces:
Sand the surface, then prime with ANTIRUST EPOXY, 2 coats

Usage

  • Mix component A thoroughly before use, and once homogeneous, gradually add component B while continuously stirring.
  • Apply ensuring enough paint is used to cover an entire section. This practice is important to achieve a perfect result.
  • Before application, surfaces are smoothed with appropriate sandpaper.
  • To avoid bubbles during application, perform the work in the shade as much as possible.
  • Do not apply when the air and surface temperatures are below 10°C or above 35°C, nor when relative humidity exceeds 70%.
  • Good ventilation of the area is required during application due to hazardous fumes.
  • After the ANTIRUST EPOXY dries, sand the surface, remove dust, and apply the two-component polyurethane coating system of your choice (POLYGLOSS, ANTISKID) or one of the antifouling paints from the TROPIKAL series.

Drying - Coverage

  • The ambient temperature and the thickness of the coating determine the drying time.
  • Surface drying: 1 hour.
  • Re-coating time: 2-4 hours.
  • Coverage: 10-14m²/liter, depending on the thickness of each coat and the absorbency of the surface.
