The tree produces two main products: the hard seed (nutmeg) and the outer fruit tissue known as mace. It has traditionally been used both in cooking and medicine.

Usage: 1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg is steeped in 1 glass of boiling water in a covered container. It is left for 5-10 minutes and (optionally) strained before use.
