Soutzoukloukoum is a traditional sweet produced in Komotini. It is distinguished by its smooth and soft texture, sweet taste, and pleasant aroma. It contains walnuts and is coated with sesame.

The preparation process has elements of ritual. Whole walnuts are threaded one by one onto a string. Then, after mixing with water and sugar, the strings with the walnuts are dipped into the cauldron and hung on poles to allow the mixture to set. The caramelized, amber color of the loukoumi decorates the sesame with which the long-shaped loukoumia are sprinkled.
