Senecio is an ornamental succulent that impresses with its leaves and is recommended for indoor decoration. It is usually grown in hanging baskets with the leaves falling over the edge of the container. It is low maintenance and can be grown indoors or outdoors (above freezing temperature).

It requires rare watering, about once a month, a few hours of direct sunlight, and is not affected by humidity. Good soil drainage is essential to prevent root rot, so sandy soil is recommended.

It is a flowering, creeping, perennial succulent plant, native to the drier parts of southwestern Africa, belonging to the daisy family Asteraceae. In its natural environment, its stems root wherever they touch, forming dense clusters of leaves. It often avoids direct sunlight by growing in the shade of other plants and rocks.

It blooms in summer with a composite flower that lasts about a month and is said to smell like cinnamon and other spices. The unusual shape of its leaves allows water storage, reducing water loss due to evaporation.

It can be easily propagated by cutting 10 centimeters of healthy stem and lightly covering it with moist potting mix. Roots develop quickly from the point where the leaves are attached to the stem.
