Its cultivation is easy, while it grows best in poor, mineral substrates. It is suitable for compositions with other cacti such as Echinocereus spp. and Gymnocalycium spp..
Adaptations: Thick parenchymal tissue for water storage and waxy epidermis to limit transpiration.
