Chimpanzees are today our closest relatives, sharing over 98% of our genetic footprint. It is believed that humans and chimpanzees share a common ancestor that lived four to eight million years ago. Although they normally walk on all fours, chimpanzees can stand and walk upright. Jumping from branch to branch, they move efficiently in the trees, where they usually eat their food.
Besides eating, chimpanzees usually sleep in the trees, using nests made of leaves.
