This volume brings together ten studies, each of which proposes and supports evident or latent, intentional or unconscious, convergences or divergences between different ancient works. These connections link, in a complementary or contrasting manner, the specific short texts under discussion with each other, as well as with the broader cultural context of their creation.
At the same time, all ten studies can be read as a single, cohesive macro-text that includes ancient drama and theatrical practice as a network of interrelated subtexts and supertexts, which, additionally, engages in a diachronic dialogue with a complex network of modern theoretical inquiries, philosophical reflections, and artistic approaches to ancient theater.
From this perspective, the overall goal of the book and its individual chapters is to "discuss" intertextual or/and intermedial ruptures and fissures that may shed new light on the interpretive potential of the referenced works, opening up new avenues for their comparison and critique.
