Description

Anavyssos in Attica hosts the historic headquarters and the first winery of the area. The surrounding vineyards are mainly cultivated with Savatiano, which adapts perfectly to the dry and warm climate of Attica. The vineyards are characterized by their old age, “goblet” shape, low yields per hectare, and high qualitative potential. In the past 10-15 years, younger growers have also been experimenting with other varieties.

In the privately owned 35-stremma vineyard next to the winery, the varieties Malagouzia and Assyrtiko are cultivated, which show good adaptation and typicity. Also, in Asprokampos Nemea, a second winery has operated since 2000, in collaboration with the region’s vine growers.

The Nemea area includes the communities of Psari, Asprokampos, Kefalari, Kastraki, and Bozikas, with Agiorgitiko as the dominant variety. At the same time, other Greek and international varieties have also been tested with great success over the last 20 years. The vineyards planted after 1980 are formed in a linear, trellised system, offering improved ripening.

Harvest in the area starts at an altitude of 600 m and can reach up to 900 m, taking place about two weeks after the harvest in the lowland Nemea and extending until the first ten days of October, depending on climatic conditions and variety. The company’s vineyards in this mountainous zone exceed 80 stremmas across seven different areas, with an additional 40 stremmas on the slopes of Ancient Nemea. Besides Agiorgitiko, the varieties Malagouzia, Assyrtiko, Moschato, and other international white and red varieties are also cultivated.
