Muskane was once one of the most expensive spices and has a very delicate aroma, sweet and spicy. It offers a complex blend of flavors that leaves a sensation of orange, lemon, and camphor. In Romania, it is mainly used to flavor mulled wine or shortbread cookies, while in its countries of origin it is used in curry blends. In small doses, muskane is used in pies, meat dishes, pickles, and sausages.
