Information about the series edition:

"Adeamus!" facilitates more accurate translations through consistent pre-relief of the reading passage with factual information and grammar, as well as a focus on vocabulary work. The reading passage always remains clearly in focus.

The special feature: Supportive preparations for the reading passage

"Adeamus!" introduces exciting and motivating Latin texts centered on the Roman world and encourages content-related engagement.

At the beginning of each lesson, learners are comprehensively introduced to the "world" of the Latin reading text—both linguistically (vocabulary, grammar) and culturally (factual information). With this background knowledge, students find reading easier. Consequently, the reading text in "Adeamus!" is placed at the end of each lesson—making a genuine reading experience possible. "Stepping-stone texts" on the preparatory pages also provide content motivation and training in text competence in between.

A systematic and sustainable vocabulary introduction ensures secure vocabulary knowledge. The vocabulary is introduced methodically in varied ways and specifically consolidated and repeated.

Grammar introduction is consistently done through learning tasks that enable an exploratory and largely independent discovery of the new material.

Additional advantages

The novel plot revolving around Cicero and his family illustrates nearly all important aspects of Roman life during a central historical period and provides learners with a historical and chronological orientation framework within history. Archaeologically based and age-appropriate illustrations offer numerous entry points. Exercise pages with concise, targeted tasks also reinforce German grammar. Extensive multimedia accompanying materials support individual learning and facilitate lesson preparation.

Accompanying materials for teachers

The student book – teacher edition contains the text and exercise volume with additional information, including:

  • Marking of new vocabulary and new grammar,
  • Marked meaning sections of the reading passages,
  • Marked connectors in the reading passages,
  • Didactic-methodical tips,
  • References to accompanying grammar, workbook, digital teacher service, and teaching aids,
  • Notes on review as well as pre-relief and differentiation,
  • Suggestions for homework.

Also available as an e-book on scook.de.

Teaching aids

For each sequence, there are 2 pages of orientation (thematic classification and regarding competencies/learning content).

For each lesson, a table "Ways through the lesson" outlines the optimum and minimum approach to working through the lesson as well as an alternative each. The events of the novel plot are largely based on verifiable events from Cicero’s life; the ancient original sources are indicated in the reading texts or lessons.

Additionally, there is one page "Orientation" that enables the placement of the lesson in context (thematic and content focuses of the lesson, new material, competencies), one page of explanations for the factual information and introductory page, one page of solutions to the lesson exercises, and one page for the lesson text with translation and solutions to the tasks. For some reading texts, there is a "short way" in which students read a shortened, collaboratively worked version.
