    It did its job right away, it can deliver 30W. I used it on a Mercusys H80X to transfer power along with the signal from a UPS. It worked at 1Gbps in combination with the LOGILINK POE005 POE Splitter. The difference between active and passive injectors is that active ones provide high voltage (44~57 V), so the current is low and you can use a long cable. In contrast, passive injectors transfer the voltage from the device's power supply (5, 9, or 12 V), so they can't handle many meters of cable because the voltage will drop across the thin ethernet wires and the device won't work properly.

    ATTENTION, at the other end you must also install an active splitter which will convert the high voltage to the one required by the device; a passive one will destroy it!
