This book was born out of our desire to compile in a single volume the various stories and testimonies about Socrates, which are scattered across many different texts to this day. The texts are written in the Attic dialect and are also presented in Modern Greek, with the aim of serving not only as reading material but also as a tool for those wishing to become familiar with the Attic dialect.
Our hope is that this small book will serve as a bridge between the modern reader and the language in which Socrates himself spoke and philosophized.
AUTHOR'S BIOGRAPHY
Euḗmáchinos Moschonás, after completing his professional career in the Hellenic Navy, dedicated himself to the study of ancient Greek literature and especially Socratic philosophy, with particular emphasis on the Attic dialect and its linguistic precision. His engagement with Socratic texts was not merely philological but a personal quest related to speech, self-knowledge, and moderation. This work is the result of many years of study and reflection and aims to highlight the living power of the Greek philosophical tradition.
