I have bought it several times due to its very good price per terabyte. However, I always strip it from its plastic construction and use it either as an internal or external drive, but with a different USB connection board and NOT THE FACTORY ONE. As many people write, it mostly contains a Seagate Barracuda disk. It is quite fast (7600rpm) and can withstand continuous downloading until it is full. But in general, it is for storage and ALWAYS after removing its casing and the USB connection board. The disk comes formatted in FAT 32.
The steps I would suggest are as follows:
1. Make sure it works before voiding its warranty.
2. Strip it from its plastic and the USB card. Not the disk itself, the USB.
3. Connect it internally to a PC (preferably to the SATA controller on the motherboard), delete all partitions, and reformat it as GPT in NTFS. Quick format is also fine.
4. Write it with some files.
5. If you have a docking station or a USB board for Seagate/Toshiba Canvio.E external drives of equal or larger capacity, then connect it. Optionally, download the Seagate tools and check it.
6. The product is worth its money for the disk it contains. The same disk is found in more expensive Seagate external drives. There, you pay for the name, the USB board, and the software.
Those of you who have written it without stripping it from its board should transfer your data to another disk as soon as possible. Personally, by writing it as it comes from the factory, I couldn't read it in any way as an internal or with a different board from a reputable and more expensive external drive.

It was purchased for permanent storage of some data, but in the end it is being used permanently on a PC for torrents, etc. It is quieter and -4 degrees compared to the previous one, so they probably installed a different disk inside. It has never bothered me. It has been working perfectly for 1 year

Mit Traurigkeit habe ich festgestellt, dass es sich um eine SEAGATE ST5000DM003-2FH18L handelt. Während des Backups bleibt die Temperatur stabil bei 39-40 Grad. Ich habe in der Vergangenheit Daten mit einer Seagate-Festplatte verloren und hatte immer WD oder TOSHIBA. Die 3TB, die ich seit 3 Jahren habe, ist INTENSO mit TOSHIBA - einwandfrei. Ich hoffe, die 5TB erweist sich als gut... Wie neu, verliert sie ständig Daten... sie fordert ständig zur Formatierung auf... verschwendetes Geld...

Three broken discs in a span of 3 months and lost a lot of work data. I don't know what to complain about first. No, definitely not.

The disk inside is a Seagate ST5000DM000 - 5tb - 5900rpm. It has decent speeds for its price. 180MB/s Read - 150MB/s Write in sequential Crystal Disk Mark.

It is not the best internal/external HDD in terms of quality/reliability/speed, but it has a very good €/TB ratio.

As soon as it arrived, I ran the typical surface scan and SMART tests. They showed it was OK. If any issues arise with its reliability, I will update in the future.

The glossy external surface is a MAGNET for fingerprints and is not easily cleaned.

The first one I had made a noise like something had broken inside the disk and it was moving up and down as I turned it upside down, so I returned it and got another one. The next one had no apparent problems, but after careful use (no drops, and it was only plugged into the power outlet and USB port when in use, etc.), it simply stopped working after 4 months, as if it wasn't receiving power (there was no clicking sound, no noise at all, it just wouldn't turn on). It's still under warranty, but what can I do? I had 4TB of data stored out of the 5TB capacity. And even when it was still working, it was noticeably slower than comparable top brands and had some other issues with indexing/partitioning that are more specialized and don't concern the average user. I have 9 external hard drives purchased over a period of 12-14 years from various companies, mainly Western Digital, and none of them have ever failed without a drop of at least 40 centimeters, and I checked them all a month and a half ago. However, this one was the exception, especially since its price has dropped from 190 euros to 150 euros in the 4 months that I've had it. Coincidence? You decide.

The price-performance ratio and characteristics of this disk are amazing, with the only downside being its power supply cable which is a bit thin and appears fragile. Otherwise, it is a very good disk. Before this, I had an Intenso 2.5" 1Tb for at least 5 years and I was very satisfied, the same goes for this one after 1 year of use.

I have 2 of these for three months and they are amazing!!! With 15gb files, I achieve a writing speed of 170mb!!! I use them every day and never had a problem. I am very satisfied :)
The only negative thing is that the power LED is at the back, I would prefer it to be in the front, but it's not a serious issue
