Historical Information: Couch grass (Elymus repens) is a perennial plant belonging to the Poaceae family and thrives mainly in temperate regions. It has been known since ancient times for its medicinal properties, especially in folk medicine, where it was used for its diuretic effect and care of the urinary system.

The ancient Greeks and Romans recognized couch grass as a beneficial plant for kidney health and toxin elimination. It is characterized by long, thin roots and a height that can reach up to 50 centimeters. It thrives in meadows, roadside edges, and uncultivated lands.

Properties Derived from Research: Research has shown that the plant has a strong diuretic action, which helps eliminate toxins and fluids from the body. Studies support the anti-inflammatory effect of couch grass, especially in urinary tract inflammations. Couch grass appears to contribute to reducing symptoms related to prostate problems. It has been proven that the plant helps dissolve kidney and gallstones while enhancing kidney function.

Usage: 1 tablespoon of crushed couch grass rhizome (or a pinch of uncrushed) is placed in a container with 1 glass of water, the contents are boiled for 5 minutes and after a while the liquid is strained and drunk (2 - 3 doses per day). Ideal also for vegetarians and vegans.
