This volume is divided into four sections. The first includes references to two archetypal figures of the 20th century – K. Th. Dimaras and G. P. Savvidis.
The second contains four studies on K. P. Cavafy. The first focuses on Cavafy's dialogue with the visual arts, the second on his engagement with Jewish historiography, the third on Cavafy's correspondence, and the fourth on publishing issues.
The third section centers on George Seferis. It includes a study on Seferis’s 'spicy' aspects revealed by G. P. Savvidis in 1989; a study on Seferis as a translator; and a study on Seferis as a politician, focusing on his Beirut diaries (1953-56) in comparison with material from the Historical and Diplomatic Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The final section explores the phenomenon of 'dialogue' in authorship – comparing Greek translations of Shakespeare's sonnets to their original (1609), or the response of Greek-American Harry Mark Petrakis to the novel Bios kai Politeia tou Alexis Zorbas (1946) by Nikos Kazantzakis.
