Anthurium 'Napo', a sought-after anthuarium species from the Araceae family, originates from the tropical forests of Napo province in Ecuador. It is distinguished by its velvety, dark green leaves with pronounced silver veins and impressive texture. A truly special plant for every enthusiast, it impresses with its elegant appearance and compact form, ideal for indoor spaces with diffused light.

Growth and development

• Moderate growth rate, producing new leaves at intervals of several weeks during the active period.
• Compact, upright habit with leaves arranged in a rosette, 40-60 cm tall at maturity.
• Development of visible aerial roots, which should not be cut as they are a natural part of the plant.
• Good adaptation to cultivation in pots with airy, well-draining substrate.
• Requires attention to humidity and temperature.

Light: Bright, indirect light. Tolerates moderate intensity. Avoid direct sunlight which can burn the velvety leaves. Ideal window facing east or north.

Temperature: Ideal conditions 18-26°C. Not below 15°C. Sensitive to cold drafts. Slightly lower temperatures at night (16-18°C) are beneficial.

Watering: Slightly moist conditions, never waterlogged substrate. Allow the top 2-3 cm to dry out between waterings. Use filtered room temperature water. Aerial roots appreciate misting.

Humidity: Above 60%, ideally 70-80%. Strong humidifier recommended. Velvety anthuriums suffer noticeably at humidity below 50%.

Substrate: Highly airy: pine bark (40%) + perlite (25%) + sphagnum moss (20%) + horticultural charcoal (15%). The substrate should mimic the natural epiphytic environment.

Fertilizers: Balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to one-quarter strength, every 2 weeks during the active period. Anthuriums are sensitive to over-fertilization.

Propagation: By division during repotting or by air-layering cuttings. Spring is the ideal period.
