    We used it almost daily for about 10 years. For the last 2 years or so, the cable was not making contact and I had put some electrical tape on it. Gradually, it started making more and more pauses while working. Until suddenly it short-circuited and the cable burst, just a few centimeters from my hand, fortunately without injuring me. I recommend not wrapping the cable around and pulling it, because that's how ours broke; otherwise, it would have lasted even more years. Also, it's not suitable for ice cubes.
