Description

The ethics of Epicurus is a distinct chapter of ancient philosophy and philosophical ethics. Because it is invoked by philosophers as diverse as Nietzsche, Marx, and John Stuart Mill, or researchers who have taught us to understand ancient philosophy differently, such as Pierre Hadot? Is it perhaps interesting and timely, within the context of an increasingly fashionable practical philosophy that aspires to replace psychotherapy with philosophical counseling? Or perhaps because groups around the world understand themselves as Epicurean and profess the serious or picturesque revival of Epicureanism? (...) [Excerpt from the preface text]
