Barley first appeared in Asia and in ancient times it was the best in its category and very famous, but over the years its consumption decreased due to the more frequent consumption of rye and wheat!
What is it and where is it grown?
Barley is a cereal grain! This grain comes from a grass that needs a temperate climate to grow. It is cultivated for human and animal food, but it is also used in the production of beverages.
What types of barley will you find on the market!
- ¨Pearled¨ (the bran has been removed, so it has fewer fiber)
- Hulled (whole grain)
The first, despite the bran having been removed, remains a source of certain nutrients, but the second is definitely a stronger nutritional choice.
