Cats: Fun facts & useful products for every cat parent!
The World Cat Day has been celebrated since 2002 and every year, on August 8th!
It aims to officially honor one of the most ancient human pets, which was worshiped as a deity (we see you Egypt), and also the coolest animal on the planet (okay, maybe a bit of an exaggeration here because we are cat parents).
Before we start, let's emphasize that there are many kittens (and puppies) looking for a home. It is important to prefer adoption, whether you find a kitten on the street and bring it home, or visit an animal shelter and find your other half there! At every opportunity, take care of the strays in your neighborhood, especially on days of heatwaves or frost.
And since we've covered the important stuff, let's look at tips & products that will make your furry friend-roommate happy, cat inspired items, and facts about cats that you might not know!
Food
Like you, your cat needs to be fed properly and on a schedule. After consulting your veterinarian about any special dietary needs she may have, you will need to feed her mainly dry food, wet food every week, and offer her now and then treats. Below you will find whatever type of food you are looking for: for young cats, adult cats, for sterilized cats, grain-free, etc.
Obviously you will need to get bowls for her food and water, but remember that you can also choose an automatic water dispenser so she drinks enough water, as well as an automatic feeder, so you can have peace of mind when you are away from home!

Health & Hygiene
The next thing you’ll need to focus on is her hygiene. Her litter box, the type of litter you choose, as well as special supplements to support her health.
In general, cats prefer open litter boxes, as they feel they have visibility over any potential dangers in the environment. However, this does not mean that a cat cannot also be comfortable with a covered litter box, especially if she is introduced to it from a young age.
For litter, you can choose from various types: Scented, crystal, pellet, clumping, etc.
As for supplements, you may need something to protect her oral hygiene, catnip to boost her mood, as well as a special supplement to help her with hairballs!

Play & Bed
Play is very important for cats, especially up to the age of 3, when they still have plenty of energy as they go through their “childhood” years. Make sure you dedicate enough time to playing together, so her mood doesn’t drop, she stays stimulated and physically fit, and your bond grows stronger too.
At the same time, you can also get her a nest or a pillow, so she has her own space when she wants to rest somewhere after playtime (as if we don’t all know she’ll sleep in the most uncomfortable places, from the laptop to your head, but okay).
Plus: You’ll also need a carrier bag or transport crate, so she has her own space when you’re away from home too!
Don’t forget to get her a scratching post too, so she can file her nails there and not on your calves!
Make your home, her home:
Grooming & Care
Obviously, you’re not the only one who needs some beauté—your cat does too! For the absolute essentials, you’ll definitely need a comb, especially during the summer months when they shed quite a bit of fur due to the heat, as well as some nail clippers for its nails (be careful when trimming nails; first consult your veterinarian to learn how to do it properly without harming it).
