The twin sisters Sophia and Anna moved with their mother to her village, in Prophet Elijah of Heraklion, Crete, formerly known as Kanli Kasteli. There, along with their cousins, while sifting through the ashes in the fireplace with great-grandmother Despina, they stir up the history of their place and, at the same time, discover their family’s past. A well-hidden secret, a pendant, comes to light, and the adventure begins. Why was their great-great-great-great-grandmother wandering in the fortified city of Temenos one winter night a hundred and ten years ago? Did she see Empress Theophano in a dream, or was it a vision? And what connection does Nikephoros Phokas have with all of this so many centuries later? The children become trapped in the bowels of the mountain. Will they manage to find the exit? Will they untangle the knot? Will they accomplish this Secret Mission?
